- What is the EU AI Act?
- The EU AI Act is the EU's first comprehensive regulation for artificial intelligence. It takes full effect from summer 2026 and sorts AI systems into risk classes, from unacceptable risk (banned) to minimal risk (few obligations).
- What penalties apply for violations?
- Violations can be fined up to 35 million euros or 7% of global annual turnover, whichever is higher.
- Who is affected by the EU AI Act?
- Any company that develops, distributes or uses AI systems, regardless of size. SMEs that use chatbots, AI-generated content or automated decisions can be affected too.
